Instructions
* Ahead of time, draw columns on a piece of paper and label the columns
"Jungle," "Farm," "Forest," and "Pets." Add an image indicative of each term
at the top of the appropriate column. Make one for each child. Place the
other items listed for the lesson in the science and nature center.
What to Do
1. Engage the children in a discussion about the different animals in the world.
Discuss how there are animals that live in the jungle, on a farm, in the forest,
and other animals that they may have as pets.
2. At the end of the discussion, set out the magazines and coloring books.
3. Explain to the children that they will be looking for animals that they just
talked about.
4. After they find and cut out their pictures, give each child one of the papers
you prepared for them.
5. Explain to them that they will match the different animals to where they live.
Show the children how to do this on their papers.
6. Show them a picture of an elephant and ask them where the elephant lives.
Once they figure it out, they glue the picture in that column of their paper.
Note: Help the children who need a bit of guidance.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Do the children understand that certain creatures only live in particular
habitats?
* Can the children sort the animals into the correct habitats?
