Johnny Appleseed's birthday is on September 26th.

Materials

  • apples in as many different varieties and colors as possible
  • knife (adult only)

What to Do

  1. Celebrate Johnny Appeleseed's birthday by showing the children all the different kinds of apples. If you can, try to have both an extra sweet and Granny Smith apple.
  2. Pass the apples around for the children to see if they feel or smell differently.
  3. Cut open each apple and see if the insides are the same.
  4. Cut the apples into slices and let the children experience the variety of different apple flavors.
