Instructions

1. Set up a tent. If the inside of the tent is not dark enough, place a blanket over
the top. If a tent is not available, a blanket over the top of a table will work
just as well.
2. Open the sleeping bag to cover the bottom of the tent. Add pillows to make
a snug place. A quilt or blanket will work, but not as well.
3. Place three flashlights in a shoebox. Place the flashlights and nighttime
books inside the tent.
4. Children enter the tent, zip up the opening, and enjoy their "nighttime
retreat." It is important that only three children enter at one time. Any more
than this will be too crowded.
5. At first the children will enjoy the novelty of playing with flashlights. After
the novelty has worn off, cut out circles from colored transparencies to fit
inside the lens of the flashlight to make different colors.
6. If desired, introduce stuffed nocturnal animals for dramatic play.
