Materials

die-cut cookies from foam or feltmagnetslarge cookie sheet

Instructions

1. Make "chocolate chip cookies" from brown felt or foam sheets, one for each child. Attach a small magnet to the back of each cookie so they will stick to the cookie sheet.

2. Place the cookies on the cookie sheet and hide it nearby.

3. Gather the children and read The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins.

4. After the story, show the children the felt cookies on the cookie sheet. Ask them if they think if there are enough cookies for everyone.

5. Act out the story by having two children start out with all of the cookies and then have more children ring the bell and come over for cookies.

6. At the end, each child should have just one cookie.
