Instructions
1. This call-and-response song helps children learn each other's names.
2. Sing the following song to the tune of "Pick an Apple Off My Tree,"
making the necessary gestures when prompted.
Teacher: Shout it.
Children shout: 1, 2, 3!
Teacher: Whisper it.
Children whisper: 1, 2, 3.
Shout and whisper,
That's what we do,
Shout and whisper,
I like you.
Teacher: Shout it.
Children shout: I like you!
Teacher: Whisper it.
Children whisper: I like you.
Shout and whisper,
That's our game.
Shout and whisper,
Teacher: Shout your name! (point to a child in the group, child shouts first
name)
Teacher: Whisper it.
Child whispers name.
3. Repeat this last verse over and over again until each child has shouted
and whispered his or her name.
