Instructions

1. On a smooth floor or long table, make a gradual incline out of tiled books or sturdy cardboard by putting blocks underneath them. Use masking tape to make a start and finish line at either end of the track.

2. Measure the length of the inclined "track" with measuring tape.

3. Give each child a toy car to run down the track.

4. Measure the distance from the start line to where each child's car stops on the track.

5. Set up a chart to keep track of the distance each child's car travels on the track, and discuss with the children which cars went the farthest and shortest distances, what the average distance was, and so on.
