Materials

Dishpan

Water

Cheese grater or potato peeler

Colored chalk

White construction paper, cut into large circles

Instructions

What to do
1. Pour water into a dishpan until it is two-thirds full.
2. Using a cheese grater or potato peeler, scrape different colors of chalk into a bowl.
3. Ask the children to sprinkle the grated chalk on top of the water in the dishpan.
4. Give each child a construction paper circle. Invite the children in turn to gently lay their circle
on top of the water, then remove it and set it aside to dry.
5. When the paper dries, the children will see a swirl of colors.
