Instructions

1. Reading to children can be the most rewarding activity you do in any given
day. However, reading to children in a large group setting can lead to
discipline problems as you try to keep a large group of wiggly bodies quiet
and still through a whole story.
2. Try the following story time ideas to fill a few extra moments.
3. Make a cozy corner that is designated just for reading. Pile several large
pillows on a small rug in a corner of the room. Add a small quilt or afghan or
two. Place a large bucket with several favorite books in it nearby. Use this
area to read to small groups (two or three) of children. Cuddle up together!
It's definitely a warm and fuzzy time!
4. Place books in smaller containers around the room. Use fancy buckets or
wicker baskets. When a child asks you to read one of the books, just plop
right down where you are and read, read, read!
5. Place books related to the different interest centers right in the interest
centers, and then read to children right there in the center.
