Cardboard milk containers, two per child Pen Scissors Paper MarkersInstructions
1. Ahead of time, make cubes from milk containers. First, measure across the bottom of a milk
container. Then measure that same length on all four sides (from bottom to top) and mark.
Draw a line around the container at these marks and cut along this line. Cut the other container
in the same manner. Place one container into the other, forming a solid cube. Make one cube
for each child.
2. Give each child six paper squares cut to fit the side of the cube.
3. Encourage the children to draw six different faces showing emotions on the squares.
4. Invite them to glue one face to each side of their cubes.
5. These cubes can be used as dice or for an emotion game of your choice.
More to do
Circle time: Make an emotion cube to use with the group. The children can use these cubes to try
to identify how they are feeling or to play a game where they show their happy, mad, and sad
faces.
Language: Make a class book about feelings. Glue drawings of faces on pages and have children
dictate stories about when they felt happy, sad, etc.
