Materials

Small bags

Colorful leaves

2 pieces of wax paper 12" x 19" (30 cm x 50 cm) for each child

Crayon shavings in small plastic bowls

Instructions

1. Bring the children on a nature walk and ask them to collect colorful leaves in a bag.
2. Back in the classroom, supply the children with one piece of wax paper. Let them share the
bowls of crayon shavings.
3. Invite the children to arrange their leaves on the wax paper, then sprinkle crayon shavings over
them.
4. Have the children slide their paper to you when they are finished.
5. Place the second piece of wax paper over their arrangement and press it with a hot iron.
Remind the children that only a teacher or another adult can touch the iron.
6. Let the finished product cool.
