Rebecca Bishop is a mother of two. She worked previously in the early education field and currently works as a behavioral specialist for children with autism spectrum disorders. She is also an advocate for trans and nonbinary youth. Her older daughter is cisgender; this means she was identified as female at birth and has continued to identify with that gender label. Her younger son is transgender. When he socially transitioned in early childhood, she and her family were overwhelmed by the breadth of information and the lack of community education. Therapists and advocates gave them many wonderful tools, but they consistently had to work hard to integrate what they knew into their son’s play and school environments. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.
